After a standout career at the University of Tennessee at Martin from 2008-12, Jodie Tiley is a volunteer assistant for head coach Dennis Taylor and the Skyhawk tennis program.
A native of Cambridge, England, Tiley had previously served three seasons (2014-17) as a graduate assistant for UT Martin tennis. She made an instant impact in her first year as a member of the Skyhawk coaching staff, as her focus on match preparation helped guide Sarah Candeloro, Burcu Tari and Elina Geut to 11 singles victories, the first occurrence since 2010 that three Skyhawks had accomplished that feat in a single season.
Last season, UT Martin became the first-ever No. 6 seed to reach the Ohio Valley Conference Championship finals. The Skyhawks found their momentum at the end of the season, reeling off a four-match winning streak in the span of eight days before eventually falling to Austin Peay (the nation's lone undefeated team at the time) in the league championship match.
Tiley’s playing career got off to a fast start as she went 10-8 and earned the Ohio Valley Conference Freshman of the Year Award. Tiley’s honors grew during her junior year when she made the All-OVC first team after leading the Skyhawks with 13 victories at the No. 1 spot, including a 7-1 conference record which helped UT Martin win the regular season championship.
During her senior season, Tiley capped off her career with the program’s fifth OVC Player of the Year award and the first since Sari Nortje won the award in 2005. During that spectacular senior season, Tiley paced UT Martin with 12 victories in singles and 14 doubles victories, en route to the Skyhawks’ 8-1 OVC record.
Tiley made OVC history during her UT Martin playing career, as she became the first-ever tennis player to win both the league’s Freshman of the Year and Player of the Year honors.
Tiley graduated from with a degree in sports management from UT Martin in 2012 and also earned a Master’s degree in education in 2017 from UT Martin.
