Jackson Hayzlett is in his second season on the University of Tennessee at Martin staff and first season as an assistant coach in 2020-21. He takes over as an assistant coach after previously serving in the roles of director of basketball operations and video coordinator/director of analytics.

Last season, Hayzlett coordinated film exchange while deriving statistical data from all aspects of on-court performance. He was a part of the Skyhawk program that produced a pair of All-Ohio Valley Conference honorees and eight OVC player of the week mentions.
Hayzlett joined the Skyhawks from North Carolina State University, where he was a volunteer statistical analyst consultant for the Wolfpack men’s basketball program for two seasons. He created data visualizations for analyzing player shooting and scouting Atlantic Coast Conference teams while also analyzing team substitution patterns by optimizing player and lineup efficiencies. He created an end-of-the-year binder showcasing all advanced analytics regarding player development and team improvement.

A Wapakoneta, Ohio native, Hayzlett has also worked as a remote video analyst for the Phoenix Suns since April. He contributed in player analysis for the drafting process by tagging video and reporting.

Hayzlett was a student manager for the Bowling Green State University men’s basketball program and also served as an assistant varsity basketball coach at Sidney High School in Ohio. He has spent the last four years as a mathematics teacher at Millbrook High School in Raleigh, NC, also working as a statistical analyst consultant for the school’s boy’s basketball team.

Hayzlett earned his bachelor’s degree in mathematics education from Bowling Green State in 2014 and later received his Masters of Statistics degree from North Carolina State in 2019. He is married to his wife, Kendall Hayzlett and the couple is expecting their first child in November 2020.
