Mike Hudson joined the Skyhawks as an offensive line assistant UT Martin prior to the 2023 season.
Hudson brings over 30 years of collegiate coaching experience to the Skyhawks following stops at Rice, Texas State, Montana, Sam Houston State, Trinity and New Mexico.
The bulk of his time came at Texas State where he worked for 18 years on the defensive side of the ball. He began his coaching career at Texas State as a student coach (1997-98) before transitioning into a graduate assistant (1990-91). After departing the program, he later returned to coach the linebackers from 1995-2000 before becoming the Bobcats defensive coordinator in 2001-02. Then following additional stops, he returned once again to coach the defensive line from 2011-15.
Following one of his stops at Texas State, he served two seasons as a defensive coordinator at Sam Houston State in 2003-04. During his tenure, he also served as defensive line coach while the Bearkats advanced to the semifinals of the 2004 NCAA FCS Playoffs.
He later spent six seasons at Montana where he held several positions during his stint with the Grizzlies from 2005-10. He served as linebacker coach (2010), secondary coach (2008-09), running backs (2005-08), director of operations (2009) and associated head coach from 2005-10. The squad won or shared the Big Sky Conference championship from 2005-09.
Other stops include stints at Trinity University, New Mexico and Rice.
Hudson earned a bachelor's degree in kinesiology at UTSA in 1994. Born in Bryan, Texas and raised in San Antonio, Hudson played collegiate football at Angelo State University in 1983 and 1984. The Rams won a Lone Star Conference championship in 1984.
