Anthony Gore, Jr. enters his first season as an assistant coach at UT Martin since joining the staff in the summer of 2022, working as a special teams assistant and with the jacks.
Prior to joining UT Martin, Gore served as a graduate assistant and assistant defensive backs coach at Shorter University for the 2021 season. Â
Gore previously spent time as an assistant football coach at Bulloch Academy School in 2020 in Statesboro, Ga.
Before his coaching career he enjoyed a strong collegiate career at Kennesaw State where he was a three-time All-Big South performer, earning first team honors in 2017 and 2018 while garnering a second team recognition in 2016. His best season came as a senior in 2018 when he was named an All-American along with being tabbed Big South Conference Defensive Player of the Year and a finalist for the Buck Buchanan Award. He ranked second in the Big South in sacks (6.0) and tackles for loss (17.0) while setting a league record with 6.0 tackles for loss against Wofford in the second round of the FCS playoffs.
For his career, Gore played in 49 games while compiling 275 tackles, 42.0 tackles for loss and 10.0 sacks. He also forced five fumbles, had five passes defended and recorded two interceptions. Additionally, he was named to the 2010-19 Big South Football All-Decade Team.
Following his collegiate career, he had a professional stint in the Canadian Football League with the Calgary Stampeders.
Gore graduated from Kennesaw State with a bachelor’s degree in integrated studies and a minor in coaching in 2018. He also earned his master’s degree in kinesiology with a coaching education concentration in 2021 from Georgia Southern.
