Sports Information Internship
INTRODUCTION: The University of Tennessee at Martin, a Division I institution with 21 NCAA-sponsored sports, seeks an athletic sports information intern. Located in Northwest Tennessee, UT Martin competes in the Ohio Valley Conference.
DATES: The one-year appointment covers 2022-23 with a mutual option for an additional year pending work performance.
COMPENSATION: A $12,000 stipend each year, which is paid over 10 months.
SUPERVISOR: The position reports to the sports information director.
HOURS: The position requires hours similar to what is expected of full-time employees. Evening and weekend hours are common. Some holiday hours are also expected.

- Serve as the primary contact for cross country, track and field, women’s soccer and women’s tennis. Assist with football and both men’s and women’s basketball. (assignments subject to change).
- Compile event notes/previews/recaps, releases, feature stories and other articles.
- Research, write, edit and coordinate publications for various sports.
- Make daily and weekly contributions to UTMSports.com.
- Act as a social media coordinator for all general content.
- Staff a high volume of UT Martin home athletic events.
- Serve on the game-day computer stat crew for football and basketball.
- Conduct interviews with coaches and student-athletes, as assigned.
- Promote Skyhawk student-athletes for local, regional and national awards.
- Nominate Skyhawk teams for high-profile accolades and special recognition.
- Field a variety of internal and external information requests.
- Assist in graphic design and photography elements.
- Travel with intercollegiate athletic teams, as assigned.
- Perform other duties, as assigned.
