Student Athlete Advisory Committee
Purpose:Â To generate a student-athlete voice and promote efficient communication between UTÂ Martin student-athletes and athletics administration.
To enhance school spirit and encourage the involvement of UTÂ Martin student-athletes in campus and community projects.
To encourage and provide the student-athletes with the opportunity to communicate effectively with the athletics administration pertaining to the development of programs designed to serve their needs.
To design and implement programs which will encourage academic achievement, health promotion, social responsibility, and awareness throughout the UTÂ Martin campus.
Membership:Â The University of Tennessee at Martin Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) is composed of two voting members from each of the following teams:Â baseball, women's basketball, men's basketball, cheerleading, women's cross country, men's cross country, equestrian, football, golf, women's rifle, mixed rifle, rodeo, soccer, softball, women's tennis and volleyball.
Each team is represented by two student-athletes serving two-year terms, with one member rotating off each year. Athletes must be in good academic standing during the term of their appointments. Both members are encouraged to attend all meetings.
Advisors to the UTÂ Martin SAAC serving in ex-officio capacity are the Senior Women Administrator, the Director of Athletics and the Faculty Athletics Representative.
Officers: The UT Martin Student-Athlete Advisory Council officers shall be elected at the first meeting in the fall by a simple majority vote. The Executive Board and duties include:
  President: presides at all meetings and serves as spokesperson. Represents UT Martin at the OVC level.
   Vice-President: serves as president-elect and presides over meetings in the absence of the President.
   Secretary: maintains the minutes for all meetings.
Meetings: The Student-Athlete Advisory Council shall meet once each month starting in September. Additional meetings may be scheduled as needed.
Amendments: The Constitution may be amended by a two-thirds majority vote. The proposal must be submitted in writing to the Council prior to the meeting.
