Skyhawk Equestrian Stays 10th In National Poll Ahead Of Season Opener

WACO, Texas – The National Collegiate Equestrian Association unveiled its Coaches Poll this afternoon as the University of Tennessee at Martin is ranked No. 10 for the third consecutive week to begin the 2026-27 campaign.
Today's announcement marks the 47th NCEA top-10 appearance for the Skyhawks since March 7, 2023.
Six spots remained the same from the Week 2 edition of the rankings as Texas A&M took over the top position. South Carolina followed at No. 2 while Auburn (No. 3), Georgia (No. 4) and SMU (No. 5) rounded out the top-five. The poll was rounded out by No. 6 TCU, No. 7 Oklahoma State, No. 8 Fresno State, No. 9 South Dakota State and No. 10 UT Martin.
The Skyhawks are making their final preparations for the 2026-27 season opener as UT Martin is heading to Dover, Del. For a pair of matchups later this week. The Skyhawks will take on Eastern College Athletic Conference rival Delaware State on Friday, Oct. 2 before battling Baylor on Saturday, Oct. 3 in a neutral-site contest.
UT Martin is making its third trip to the Blue Hen State in the last 11 months as the Skyhawks faced a pair of league opponents there last November before taking part in the 2026 ECAC Championship tournament in March. UT Martin is 19-8-3 all-time against Delaware State and topped Baylor in its last meeting in Delaware, winning a raw points tiebreaker after their meet was knotted at 7-all on Nov. 18, 2023.
