Successful Second Annual Skyhawk Invitational Golf Tournament Held At Persimmon Hills

SHARON, Tenn. – A fun-filled day of golf and fellowship took place today as the second annual Skyhawk Invitational was hosted by the University of Tennessee at Martin athletic department, ATA CPA's and Security Bank & Trust Company.
A total of 121 participants competed in a six-person scramble today under the sunny skies of Persimmon Hills Golf Course. The team of Kevin Whitten, Aubrey Bynum, Chad Odle, Chuck Doss, Tony Robinson and Greg Robinson brought home first-place honors with a score of 50 (-22) while the squad of Scott Carpenter, Trey McNeil, John David Stout, Shelley Stout, Bill Stout and Blaine Mahaffey finished as runner-up with a score of 51 (-21). Coming in third place based off a scorecard playoff was the tandem of Chris Payne, Brett VanderMeeden, Chris Clapper, Curt Lee, Bryan Bullington and Tim Britt with a tally of 54 (-18).
David Hawks outlasted 15 other competitors to win the putting contest on Hole No. 18 while Andrew Wilhite (No. 4), Bynum (No. 8), VanderMeeden (No. 15) and Jack Wells (No. 18) won the closest-to-the-pin contests on the par-3 holes. VanderMeeden sank the tournament's second hole-in-one in as many years, accomplishing that impressive feat from 150 yards out.
