
McGuffin Joins NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision Oversight Committee

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – University of Tennessee at Martin Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics Kurt McGuffin has been appointed to the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision Oversight Committee.
The NCAA Division I FCS Oversight Committee consists of 18 members and includes 13 representatives from each Division I FCS conference, two student-athlete representatives, one faculty athletics representative from any Division I FCS conference, one representative from the American Football Coaches Association and one representative from the Division I Football Championship Committee.
McGuffin's term as the Ohio Valley Conference representative begins today and will run through Aug. 31, 2030. This appointment comes on the heels of McGuffin serving as Division I FCS Athletic Directors Association President for the 2025-26 season. The Iola, Kan. native additionally served as NCAA Division I Women's Softball Committee Chair from 2023-25 and has previously served on the NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Committee, the NCAA Division II Men's Golf Ranking Committee and the NCAA Division II Men's Basketball Committee during his athletics administrative career.
McGuffin wrapped up his ninth season as Skyhawk athletic director in 2025-26. He has overseen 10 different athletic programs who have won conference or regional championships and presided over record-setting achievements outside of the playing field during his UT Martin tenure. The Skyhawk athletic department was responsible for a school-record 3.37 Grade Point Average during the 2026 spring semester – marking the 13th straight semester with at least a 3.20 GPA. UT Martin's student-athletes also set a departmental record with 5,500 combined hours of community service in 2025-26.
