MARTIN, Tenn. – Luli Arcucci led the University of Tennessee at Martin volleyball squad on both ends today but the Skyhawks fell in three sets (16-25, 19-25, 18-25) to Eastern Illinois.

A junior from Mendoza, Argentina, Arcucci dialed up 12 of UT Martin's 29 kills while also accounting for five of the Skyhawks' 16 blocks this afternoon. She also added a service ace to give her a match-high 15.5 points on the day.

On the defensive side, Lauren Mariscal scooped up a team-best 10 digs while Carly Mueller and Rylee Key each rejected four blocks for UT Martin (7-10, 2-4 Ohio Valley Conference).

The Panthers (3-14, 2-4 OVC) began the match on a 6-1 run. Midway through the set, an Arcucci kill ignited a 3-0 Skyhawk run that sliced UT Martin's deficit to four points at 12-8. Another Arcucci kill followed by an Eastern Illinois attack error kept the Skyhawk deficit at four (15-11) but that was as close as UT Martin would get for the remainder of the set. Diouf registered four kills on a .375 hitting percentage in the opening stanza.

Key landed a service ace to cap off a 4-2 start for the Skyhawks in the second set. The Panthers responded with six of the next seven points before another Arcucci kill knotted the score at 8-all. Eastern Illinois answered with a 7-2 run and despite an Arcucci kill that trimmed UT Martin's deficit to 21-18, the Panthers took a 2-0 lead in the match. Arcucci secured five of the Skyhawks' 11 kills in the middle set.

Eastern Illinois scored the first five points of the final set before a Diouf kill got UT Martin on the scoreboard. After the Panthers took an eight-point advantage, an Arcucci kill and a block assist by Key and Arcucci gave the Skyhawks some temporary momentum. UT Martin later went on another run that featured kills from Key and Arcucci sandwiched around an Ida Wiszomirska service ace but ultimately it wasn't enough. Arcucci's four kills and three blocks in the final set guided the Skyhawks.

UT Martin now goes on the road for the first time in nearly three weeks, heading to OVC foe Western Illinois on Friday, Oct. 16 and Saturday, Oct. 17.
