
UT Martin Dials Up School-Record 35 Ohio Valley Conference Academic Medal Of Honor Winners

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – For the second straight year, the University of Tennessee at Martin athletic department has boasted a school record of Ohio Valley Conference Academic Medal of Honor recipients as a total of 30 Skyhawks combined for 35 awards in 2024-25.
The 35 UT Martin winners top the previous school record of 31, set last season. Since joining the league in 1992, the Skyhawks have combined for 447 OVC Academic Medals of Honor, which are awarded annually to the student-athletes who achieve a perfect 4.0 GPA in a Conference-sponsored sport.
A dozen different UT Martin athletic programs touted at least one OVC Academic Medal of Honor recipient as softball's six winners edged out soccer and women's track and field (five apiece) for the departmental lead. In addition to softball, the Skyhawk rifle program led their respective sports for most OVC Academic Medal of Honor winners.
Individually, Shae Littleford (women's basketball) earned her fourth career OVC Academic Medal of Honor while Kenley McCarn (women's basketball) additionally nabbed the third OVC Academic Medal of Honor of her career. Maren Cain (soccer), Alaina Gordon (women's track and field), Luke Johnson (men's cross country) and Brady Millikin (men's cross country/men's track and field) also became multi-time winners of this award with two medals apiece.
Overall, the OVC tallied 349 Academic Medal of Honor recipients last season – just shy of the league record of 356 in 2020-21. The league will announce its OVC Commissioner's Honor Roll student-athletes on Monday, Aug. 4.
