NORMAN, Okla. – The University of Tennessee at Martin trio of Luke Caldwell, Jonathan Xoinis and Jackson Twerdahl were amongst the 556 NCAA Division I student-athletes to earn Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar honors for the 2024-25 season.
Caldwell and Xoinis become the eighth and ninth Skyhawk golfers to win this award twice in a career while Twerdahl is the 15th different UT Martin representative to ever collect this accolade, which is annually awarded by the Golf Coaches Association of America. Overall, the Skyhawks have combined for 26 GCAA All-America Scholars since 2016 with 20 of those coming in head coach Austin Swafford's tenure (since the 2020-21 season).
UT Martin boasts three of the 13 Ohio Valley Conference golfers on this year's list as its trio are tied for the most in the league for 2024-25. The Skyhawks' three honorees are also tied for the fourth-most of any Division I institution in the state of Tennessee (trailing only Lipscomb's five, Vanderbilt's five and Belmont's four).
In order to be eligible to for the Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar nomination, an individual must be a sophomore, junior or senior both academically and athletically, must participate in 50 percent of their team's competitive rounds, have a stroke average under 76.0, maintain a minimum cumulative career Grade Point Average of 3.2, display high moral character and be in good standing at their institution.
A rising senior from Cookeville, Tenn., Caldwell accounted for the best scoring average of his collegiate career (74.1) last season. He currently boasts a 3.55 GPA while majoring in health and human performance.
Twerdahl graduated with a degree in finance and accounting, polishing off his Skyhawk career with a career-best 72.4 stroke average in 2024-25. Hailing from Nolensville, Tenn., he managed a 3.53 GPA while nabbing All-OVC first team honors.
The 2025 OVC Championship individual co-medalist, Xoinis concluded his storied Skyhawk career with a career-best 73.1 stroke average. The Chattanooga, Tenn. native graduated with a degree in engineering while sporting a 3.88 GPA.
