BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – The Ohio Valley Conference announced a partnership with Gray Media today as the multimedia company headquartered in Atlanta, Ga. will broadcast 20 league basketball games across 20 markets in five states.
As part of the OVC's multi-year contract with ESPN, the entire package will also be simulcast live nationally on ESPN+ and will be available through the ESPN app without digital blackouts.
In particular, Gray Media markets such as Nashville, Tenn., Knoxville, Tenn., Chattanooga, Tenn., Memphis, Tenn., St. Louis, Mo., Cape Girardeau, Mo., Peoria, Ill., Quincy, Ill., Rockford, Ill., Evansville, Ind., Fort Wayne, Ind., South Bend, Ind. and Lexington, Ky. will all feature premium live OVC basketball free for over-the-air television viewers.
The tentative Gray Media schedule of 20 contests includes five University of Tennessee at Martin matchups, starting with the women's and men's doubleheader at Morehead State on Thursday, Jan. 8. The Skyhawk men's game at Western Illinois on Saturday, Jan. 31 is also set while both ends of the women's and men's doubleheader against Southern Indiana on Thursday, Feb. 5 is included on the preliminary list.
Today's news comes on the heels of the Oct. 30 OVC announcement with its dates for the potential ESPNU "Wild Card" games. That includes regular season men's games on Thursday, Jan. 15, Thursday, Jan. 22, Saturday, Feb. 7, Saturday, Feb. 21 and Saturday, Feb. 28 while another date (Saturday, Feb. 14) is blocked off for a women's matchup. Those specific selections will be determined and announced approximately two weeks before the competition date to ensure the best matchups.
Once again, the ESPN family of networks will broadcast the OVC Men's Basketball Championship tournament semifinals (Friday, March 6) and finals (Saturday, March 7) while the OVC Women's Basketball Championship event – as well as all conference basketball games throughout the regular season – will be streamed live on ESPN+.
