UT MARTIN SITS IN FOURTH PLACE AFTER OPENING ROUND OF 2024 OHIO VALLEY CONFERENCE GOLF CHAMPIONSHIPS

MUSCLE SHOALS, Ala. – All five members of the University of Tennessee at Martin scoring lineup are inside the top-20 of the individual standings after 18 holes at the 2024 Ohio Valley Conference Championships, held at the Fighting Joe Course at The Shoals on the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail.
Each of the five Skyhawks are within one shot of each other after Round 1 as UT Martin's cumulative score of 301 (+13) ranks fourth in the 11-team standings. Little Rock (291, +3) holds the team lead and is followed by Tennessee Tech (292, +4) and SIUE (299, +11).
The trio of Dax Isbell, Jonathan Xoinis and Grant Phillips each shot a 75 today while Jacob Uehlein and Luke Caldwell both posted 76's. Little Rock's Archie Smith was the only player in the 55-man field to shoot under par today, carding a 71 (-1).
As a team, the Skyhawks dominated the front-nine – combining to shoot 1-under par. Six of the squad's seven birdies occurred on the first nine holes with only five bogeys before making the turn on the course, which was playing at 7,152 yards today.

UT Martin led the field in par-3 scoring, collecting an average score of 3.20 (+4). The Skyhawks tapped in the second-most pars (60) while ranking third in par-5 scoring (5.20, +4) and fourth in par-4 average (4.18, +9).
Isbell was responsible for the best par-3 scoring average (3.00, E) in Round 1 while also securing a team-best par-5 scoring average (5.00, E) and three birdies. Xoinis and Phillips shared the team lead with 13 birdies apiece while Xoinis and Uehlein accounted for the best par-4 scoring average (4.10, +1) on the squad today.
UT Martin will be paired alongside Lindenwood (307, +19) and Southern Indiana (309, +21) for tomorrow's Round 2. Caldwell will tee off Hole No. 1 at 9:40 a.m. and will be followed by Uehlein (9:51), Phillips (10:02), Xoinis (10:13) and Isbell (10:24).
