UEHLEIN RANKS SEVENTH INDIVIDUALLY AS UT MARTIN GOLF WRAPS UP FIRST TWO ROUNDS AT GULF COAST COLLEGIATE

NEW ORLEANS, La. – Jacob Uehlein pieced together two good rounds today for the University of Tennessee at Martin as the Skyhawks completed 36 holes at the Gulf Coast Collegiate held at English Turn Golf and Country Club.
Amongst a tough field where only one out of 92 golfers shot under par on the day, Uehlein stood out with a 73 this morning before a 74 in the afternoon session – sinking four birdies in each round. His 147 (+3) is just four strokes out of first place in the player standings, currently occupied by Memphis' Diego Lourenco (72-71, 143).
As a team, UT Martin is in ninth place with a total score of 624 (+48). The Skyhawks shot a 313 (+25) in Round 1 before carding a 311 (+23) in Round 2. Memphis (590, +14) leads the field by 11 strokes over Incarnate Word (+601, +25) going into tomorrow's final round.
Jonathan Xoinis (team-high four birdies) and Grant Phillips (two birdies) each shot a 77 to lead UT Martin this morning. Dax Isbell followed with a 79 that included one birdie while Ethan Ray's 80 (two birdies) closed out the team scoring. Luke Caldwell (82, one birdie) was the fifth member of the Skyhawk lineup while Jackson Twerdahl (82, one birdie) competed as an individual alongside Uehlein.
In Round 2, Isbell tallied two birdies on the way to a team-best 76 with Phillips (77, two birdies) following closely behind. The duo of Ray and Caldwell each shot a 79 with one birdie on their scorecard to complete the scoring lineup. Xoinis (86) and Twerdahl (81) both generated two birdies apiece in the afternoon round.
Phillips ranks 30th in the tournament field with a 154 and is followed by Isbell (155), Ray (159), Caldwell (161), Xoinis (163) and Twerdahl (163).
Uehlein leads the whole tournament in par-4 scoring (4.05, +1) while ranking third in the event with eight birdies. He also leads the team in par-5 scoring (4.75, -2) while Phillips (3.25 par-3 scoring average, +2) and Isbell (21 pars) top UT Martin in their respective statistical categories.
The Skyhawks will play their final 18 holes of the tournament at 8 a.m. tomorrow, being paired alongside St. John's, Arkansas-Pine Bluff and Texas A&M-Commerce on Holes No. 9-12. Uehlein and Twerdahl will tee off on Holes No. 17-18.
