MARTIN, Tenn. – All 14 Skyhawks that played in the University of Tennessee at Martin's non-conference finale scored Sunday, leading to an 86-38 over Fisk at the Kathleen and Tom Elam Center in Martin.
"This game was on our schedule to help both us and Fisk to kind of get back in shape before getting into our respective conference schedules," said head coach Kevin McMillan after the game. "We had 46 rebounds this afternoon, so I was really pleased with our effort on the glass, I thought it was much improved."
The Skyhawks led for all but 20 seconds of Sunday's contest and shot 55.4 percent from the floor in the game, marking the third time this season that they have shot 50-percent or better in a game. UT Martin is now 3-0 when eclipsing the 50-percent mark in field goal shooting this season.
UT Martin pounded both the boards and the paint in the game by outrebounding the Bulldogs, 46-21, and outscoring them in the paint, 50-14. With all 14 Skyhawks that entered the game scoring at least one field goal, the UT Martin bench accounted for 52 of its 86 points. The Skyhawk bench has now scored 50-plus points in two of its last three games and in each of its last two wins.
Kenley McCarn led the scoring for UT Martin with 12, while Kayana Armbrister followed with 10. Armbrister also led her team on the glass Sunday with a career-high eight rebounds, while Lexi Rubel added seven. Daejah Richmond and Rubel dished out six and five assist, respectively, with Richmond also adding a career-high five steals
With non-conference play now in its rear view, UT Martin returns to OVC action Thursday at home against Little Rock. Tip-off from the Kathleen and Tom Elam Center in Martin is scheduled for 5 p.m.
