Skyhawks Use Season-High Smallbore To Top Morehead State

MOREHEAD, Ky. -Â The 18th-ranked University of Tennessee at Martin rifle team shot one off a school record in smallbore Friday en route to a 4662-4654 over 15th-ranked Morehead State at the Button Rifle Range in Morehead.
The Skyhawks fired the second-best smallbore round in school history at 2320 and the sixth-best air rifle round in school history at 2342 for their first shoulder-to-shoulder win of the season.
Sadie Palfrey led all shooters in the match with a 586 smallbore and an 1178 aggregate score, to go along with a solid 592 in air rifle. Alayna Walther and Liam Tegeler both turned in strong smallbore performances for UT Martin, shooting a 581 and a 580, respectively. In air rifle, Aubrey Chenoweth was one off her personal best at 589 and was followed by Joey Kovach who tied his season high at 584.
UT Martin returns to the Button Rifle Range in Morehead Saturday for round two with the Eagles, beginning at 7 a.m.
