
ISBELL LEADS SKYHAWK GOLF THROUGH 36 HOLES AT ERNIE DENHAM CLASSIC

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Freshman Dax Isbell shot back-to-back 73's today to guide the University of Tennessee at Martin golf team through two rounds at the Ernie Denham Classic held at the Standard Club.
A Cumming, Ga. native, Isbell carded a 146 (+2) on the day, which ranks 15th in the 84-man standings. He sank seven birdies on the day and ranks first on the squad in par-3 scoring (3.25, +2) and par-4 scoring (4.05, +1).
Bryson Morrell came away with an overall score of 148 (+4) today, ranking 25th in the individual standings. The senior from Knoxville, Tenn. tapped in a team-best eight birdies today while also topping the Skyhawks in par-5 scoring (4.50, -4).
Tying Isbell for the team lead in par-3 scoring (3.25, +2) was Jacob Uehlein, who tallied a 153 (+9) with four birdies today. Luke Caldwell (156, +12) secured four birdies today while Jonathan Xoinis (157, +13) managed two birdies and a team-best 23 pars.
As a team, UT Martin shot a 599 (+23) over 36 holes, which ranks eighth in the 14-team field. The Skyhawks were responsible for a 298 (+10) in Round 1 before accounting for a 301 (+13) during Round 2.
Isbell's first-round 73 included a team-best four birdies – three of which came on the back-nine. Morrell wasn't too far behind with a 74 with three birdies while Xoinis at one point carded a dozen straight pars while posting one birdie on the way to a 75. Caldwell's 76 (with three birdies) wrapped up the team scoring while Uehlein sank one birdie as part of a 79.
In the afternoon round, all three of Isbell's birdies came during a six-hole stretch as his 73 once again led UT Martin. Morrell's second straight 74 included five birdies – four of which occurred on the front-nine. Uehlein shaved five strokes off his morning score as his 74 included a 1-under performance on the back-nine. Caldwell (80, one birdie) delivered his second consecutive countable score while Xoinis tallied one birdie before finishing with an 82.
The Skyhawks will tee off the third and final round tomorrow on Holes No. 7-10 alongside tournament host Bellarmine and fellow Ohio Valley Conference rival Morehead State at 8 a.m. CT.
