MARTIN, Tenn. – The public is invited to join the University of Tennessee at Martin golf team for a NCAA Regional watch party when the tournament field is revealed live this Wednesday, May 4 on the Golf Channel. The College Central show begins at 3 p.m. and the doors will open to all fans at 2:30 p.m.
The event will take place at the Champion's Club, located on the third floor of the Hardy Graham Stadium pressbox on campus. Light refreshments and drinks will be served.
The Skyhawks will be part of the 81-team, 450-man NCAA Regional field as the Ohio Valley Conference's automatic qualifier. The event will occur on May 16-18 and UT Martin will travel to either the Traditions Club in Bryan, Texas, the OSU Golf Club in Columbus, Ohio, the Yale Golf Course in New Haven, Conn., the Jimmie Austin Golf Course in Norman, Okla., the PGA National Resort in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. or The Reserve at Spanos Park in Stockton, Calif.
The top five teams (30 teams total) and the low individual not on an advancing team (six individuals total) from each regional site will advance to play in the NCAA Championships at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz. on May 27-June 1.
Last Wednesday, UT Martin capped off the program's third OVC championship (and second in a row) at Dalhousie Golf Club in Cape Girardeau, Mo. After finishing the 54-hole stroke play portion of the league tournament in second place, the Skyhawks knocked off Morehead State in the match play semifinal and Tennessee Tech in the winner-take-all match play championship – winning each by 3-2 margins.
All five UT Martin golfers carded at least one match play win on the final day of the 2022 OVC Championships, led by Tate Chumley's 2-0 record. The senior from Murfreesboro, Tenn., who was one of six members of the OVC All-Tournament team, posted a pair of clutch 1Up victories – besting his opposition on the final hole in each instance.
