
UT MARTIN CLIMBS TWO SPOTS TO NO. 13 IN MEN’S USTFCCCA REGIONAL RANKINGS

MARTIN, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin men's cross country team continues to climb the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) regional rankings after a strong showing at the Live In Lou Classic this past weekend, jumping up two spots to No. 13 in the South Region Week 4 rankings.
The Skyhawks joined the collection of top teams in the region after a team title at the Golden Eagle Invitational earlier this season before posting a runner-up finish in the Men's 8k Blue race of the Live In Lou Classic last weekend. UT Martin had three top-50 finishers in the meet, including a blazing time by sophomore Will Cahill who not only set a new personal-record by 62 seconds but also posted the seventh fastest time in program history at 24:17.4 to claim a second-place honor.
UT Martin climbed two spots in the South Region rankings to claim the 13th position while joining Eastern Illinois as one of two Ohio Valley Conference programs to be represented in its respective regional poll. The Skyhawks only trails Tennessee, Alabama, Ole Miss, Florida State, North Florida, Middle Tennessee, Georgia Tech, Lipscomb, Florida, Memphis, Auburn and ETSU in the region.
UT Martin will compete in its final tune-up prior to the OVC Cross Country Championship later this month when traveling to the UAB Blazer Classic on Friday, Oct. 14.
