FCS ALL-IN: SIMPSON ESTABLISHES LASTING LEGACY FOR SKYHAWKS PROGRAM
9/24/2021 10:17:00 AM | Football
In a collaborative effort the NCAA's 15 Division I FCS Conferences, a new episode "FCS All-In" will premiere each Saturday at 9am CT throughout the 2021 football season on YouTube (and will also be available on-demand).
Â
Each conference will have a segment during the show, which will also feature national correspondents.
Â
As a sneak preview, here is this week's OVC segment, which features UT Martin head football coach Jason Simpson.Â
When Simpson took over as the Skyhawks head coach in 2006, the program had only had two winning seasons since joining the OVC in 1992. In his 16 years as UTM's head coach, Simpson has led the program to nine winning seasons and only two OVC campaigns below .500.
Â
Simpson is one of only five head coaches in OVC history to coach at the same school for 15 or more seasons and with a win over Northwestern State on September 18, earned his 92nd career win, which moved him into fifth place in OVC history. Simpson was named the 2006 OVC Coach of the Year when he led the Skyhawks to its lone OVC Championship and FCS Playoff appearance.

The 2021 FCS Playoffs will feature 24 teams and the field will be announced on Sunday, November 21. Each of the playoff contests will air on the ESPN Family of Networks with the National Championship game to be held on Saturday, January 8 in Frisco, Texas.
