MARTIN, Tenn. – Eight days after the University of Tennessee at Martin won its second Ohio Valley Conference golf championship in school history, the squad will find out its NCAA Regional destination this Wednesday, May 5 when the tournament field is revealed live at 1 p.m. on the Golf Channel.
Fans are invited to join the team for a watch party that will begin at 12:30 p.m. at the Champion's Club, located on the third floor of the Hardy Graham Stadium pressbox. Light refreshments will be served while those in attendance are required to follow mask/social distancing guidelines.
Last week in Muscle Shoals, Ala., the Skyhawks shot the best OVC Championship 54-hole score in school history as their 861 (-3) was two strokes better than second-place Belmont. Not only did UT Martin sit atop the final team standings but Jack Story became the third golfer in school history to claim OVC individual medalist accolades. His 204 (-12) was tied for the best 54-hole score in OVC Championship history as he carded three consecutive 68's on his way to the title.
The field for the 2021 NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championships will consist of 81 qualifying schools (30 conference automatic qualifiers, 51 at-large selections) and 45 individuals not on those teams. All six regionals are 54-hole, three-day events and will be held on May 17-19.
The six NCAA Regional championship sites include: The Sagamore Club in Noblesville, Ind., hosted by Ball State; Seminole Legacy Golf Club in Tallahassee, Fla., hosted by Florida State; Championship Course at UNM in Albuquerque, NM, hosted by New Mexico; Karsten Creek Golf Club in Stillwater, Okla., hosted by Oklahoma State; Golf Club of Tennessee in Kingston Springs, Tenn., hosted by Vanderbilt; and Tumble Creek Golf & Country Club in Cle Elum, Wash., hosted by Washington.
