OLD HICKORY, Tenn. – Through 36 holes at the TSU Big Blue Intercollegiate, the University of Tennessee at Martin golf team is in prime position to chase down another tournament title going into tomorrow's final round at Hermitage Golf Club.
The Skyhawks are sitting in second place in the 11-team standings, posting a 289 (+5) in Round 1 before shaving five strokes for an even-par 284 in Round 2. "We had to fight today and not let things get away from us," Skyhawk head coach Austin Swafford said. "The guys did well hanging in and staying in the moment. We have to be better at handling things when we get into trouble. Hopefully we can do that tomorrow and make a push."
Nick Wolf accounted for UT Martin's best total score from the day, ranking sixth in the field of 63 golfers with a 142 (E). He ranks third in the tournament with a 3.95 par-4 scoring average (-1) and tapped in six birdies today.
