
SKYHAWK GOLF COMPLETES FINAL ROUND AT TWIN OAKS INTERCOLLEGIATE

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The University of Tennessee at Martin golf squad shot the fourth-best score in the field today at the Twin Oaks Intercollegiate, finishing the two-day tournament in 11th place with an overall score of 876 (+24).
The Skyhawks were just four strokes away from a top-five finish and six shots from placing third in the 18-team field. SIUE won the event with a final score of 858 (+6).
After running out of daylight just shy of finishing yesterday, UT Martin completed its second round this morning. Nick Wolf finished with a team-best 72 (+1) and was followed by Peyton Dix (73, +2), Jack Story (75, +4), Tate Chumley (77, +6) and Jacob Uehlein (77, +6). Competing as an individual, Mason Chandler posted a final score of 75 (+5) for Round 2.
The third and final round was a good one for the Skyhawks as they registered their best score of the tournament with a 288 (+4). UT Martin topped the field in par-5 scoring (4.55, -9) today, combining for 18 birdies and one eagle as a team.
"We played much better today and gained some momentum going forward," Skyhawk head coach Austin Swafford said. "The wind conditions today were tough and we handled it much better. We still have plenty of work to do before next week."
Story delivered UT Martin's only below-par score in the event as his 70 (-1) included a team-high five birdies. That marked the sixth-best individual Round 3 score in the field. Chumley shot an even-par 71 that featured four birdies while Wolf's 72 (+1) featured one eagle and a pair of birdies. Completing the Skyhawk scoring lineup in Round 3 was Uehlein (75, +4) as the sophomore tapped in four birdie putts.
Dix began his round with three birdies in the first five holes before settling for a 76 (+5) in the third round. Chandler produced two birdies on his way to a 76 (+5).
Overall, Wolf came in 15th place with a 217 (+4), which was the third top-15 finish in three tries this season for the junior out of Murfreesboro, Tenn. He led the 108-player field in par-5 scoring (4.33, -8) and eagles (two).
Behind a team-best nine birdies in the tournament, Story finished with a final tally of 219 (+6). Chumley paced UT Martin in par-3 scoring (3.20, +3) and finished with a 220 (+7). Uehlein came away with a 224 (+11) while Dix's 226 (+13) included a team-best 4.11 scoring average (+3) on par-4's. Chandler topped the Skyhawks with 35 pars before finishing with a 227 (+14).
UT Martin heads south next week when it takes part in the National Intercollegiate, hosted by Mercer at the Reynolds Plantation Golf Course in Lake Oconee, Ga. on March 29-30.
