BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Two days after putting the finishing touches on his first career collegiate win, University of Tennessee at Martin standout Nick Wolf was tabbed as the Ohio Valley Conference Golfer of the Week this afternoon.
This marks the second time this month that a Skyhawk representative has won his first career OVC Golfer of the Week accolade, as Wolf joins Tate Chumley (March 4) in that category. A two-time All-OVC honoree, Wolf was named OVC Golfer of the Month in October 2020 but had not previously won an OVC weekly honor until today.
Wolf topped the individual standings at the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate, hosted by Tennessee Tech at the Sevierville Golf Club River Course. He carded rounds of 68-67-69 for a final score of 204 (-12), which was one stroke better than runner-up Jake Mynatt out of Carson-Newman.
The Murfreesboro, Tenn. native led the 77-man field in par-4 scoring (3.77, -7) while his Round 2 score of 67 on Monday was the best score in the tournament. Overall, Wolf rolled in a team-high 15 birdies, one eagle and 33 pars against just five bogeys.
Wolf helped guide the Skyhawks to their second consecutive top team finish to start the 2020-21 campaign, as UT Martin tied Morehead State for first place in the team standings with an 851 (-13).
Currently, Wolf leads the OVC with a 70.6 stroke average – playing four of his five rounds this season at par or better. This week's result was the fifth top-five and ninth top-10 finish in his career.
The Skyhawks resume their spring schedule at the Twin Oaks Intercollegiate, which will be held on March 22-23 at Twin Oaks Country Club in Springfield, Mo.
