RYAN FORD NAMED OVC CROSS COUNTRY RUNNER OF THE WEEK

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – University of Tennessee at Martin senior Ryan Ford was honored after a spectacular individual and team title at the Golden Eagle Invitational by being named Ohio Valley Conference Cross Country Runners of the Week for the second time this season.
Ford, a native of Huntsville, Ala., won his third career individual title and second of the season in a field of 47 competitors at the Golden Eagle Invitational held at the Golden Eagle Country Club in Cookeville, Tenn. last weekend. While the course measured under 8k, Ford still posted an impressive time in the event to find separation from the pack with a time of 22:41.8 – more than 38 seconds faster than the second-place finisher.
His performance helped the Skyhawks take first place in a field of six teams, including Chattanooga, Northern Kentucky and Saint Louis along with fellow OVC programs Southeast Missouri and host Tennessee Tech.
This marks the first time a Skyhawk has claimed numerous OVC Male Cross Country Runner of the Week honors in the same season since the 2017 campaign.
Ford and the Skyhawks will now shift its training to prepare for the upcoming OVC Cross Country Championship to be held in Clarksville, Tenn. on Monday, March 1.
