
UT MARTIN RIFLE WRAPS UP BRIEF ROAD SWING AGAINST OVC FOE MOREHEAD STATE

MOREHEAD, Ky. – Jennifer Plocinik guided the University of Tennessee at Martin rifle squad in aggregate scoring for the third straight match as the Skyhawks squared off against Ohio Valley Conference rival Morehead State for the second consecutive day.
Plocinik's tally of 1,150 this morning included a season-high 567 points in smallbore and a team-best 583 score in air rifle. Freshman Alayna Walther was responsible for a team-high 568 points in smallbore, leading UT Martin in that category for the second time so far during the 2021-22 campaign.
Overall, the Skyhawks collected 4,553 points during today's head-to-head matchup, posting a score of 2,255 in smallbore and 2,298 in air rifle. On the flipside, the host Eagles came away with 4,664 total points (2,308 smallbore, 2,356 air rifle).
Following Walther and Plocinik in UT Martin's smallbore scoring lineup was Rachel Sprague (565), Jesse Chamberlain (555) and Nick Fares (549). A trio of Skyhawks competed individually as Abigail Donald (season-high 557), Victoria Petersen (529) and Rachel Mills (519) completed UT Martin's participation in smallbore.
Plocinik's air rifle score marked her third straight team-best performance in that gun this season. Walther's 576 was a career-high tally as she was followed in the lineup by Fares' 571, Sprague's 568 and Chamberlain's 563. Competing individually was Donald (equaling a season-best of 568), Petersen (career-high 563) and Mills (555).
The Skyhawks put the finishing touches on their fall schedule on Nov. 20-21 when they travel to Jacksonville State for a pair of competitions over the course of back-to-back days.
