BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Today the Ohio Valley Conference announced that Ross Redmont, a redshirt senior at the University of Tennessee at Martin, was voted as the league's Golfer of the Week.
Hailing from Memphis, Tenn., Redmont is coming off his third top-six finish of the 2019-20 campaign at the Gulf Coast Collegiate hosted by New Orleans. He finished with an overall score of 216 (E), which ranked sixth in the field of 56 golfers.
Redmont carded rounds of 74-69-73, piling up 37 pars and 10 birdies through the 54-hole event. His 69 in Monday's Round 2 included six birdies and was the best score in the tournament field as he scored in the 60's for the fourth time this season.
Overall, Redmont helped lead the Skyhawks to a fourth-place team finish, which was the seventh time in eight tournaments where UT Martin has placed in the top-five in 2019-20.
Redmont currently ranks in a tie for eighth in the OVC in scoring average (71.6). Ten of his 17 rounds have been played at par or under-par as he leads the Skyhawks in par-3 scoring (3.11) while tapping in 51 birdies this season.
Redmont is just the 11th UT Martin representative all-time to receive an OVC Golfer of the Week award. The Skyhawks have accounted for four OVC Golfer of the Week awards this season (teammate Jack Story won the first three) while the program has also produced two OVC Golfers of the Month (Story in September, Nick Wolf in October).
UT Martin is back in action on March 9-10 when it hosts the Grover Page Classic held at Jackson Country Club in Jackson, Tenn.
