UT MARTIN GOLF MOVES UP LOYOLA INTERCOLLEGIATE STANDINGS AFTER BIRDIE-FILLED DAY TWO

GOODYEAR, Ariz. – The University of Tennessee at Martin shaved 11 strokes off its opening round score during Day 2 of the Loyola Intercollegiate, shooting 3-under par today at the Palm Valley Golf Club.
The five members of the Skyhawk scoring lineup combined for 19 birdies and one eagle today, resulting in a cumulative score of 285 (-3). That brings UT Martin's 36-hole total to 581 (+5), which sits in ninth place in the competitive 19-team field.
The Skyhawks' best individual score today came via Tate Chumley (68, -4), as the junior produced a team-best six birdies against only two bogeys. The Murfreesboro, Tenn. native carded red scores on three of the first five holes on both the front and back-nines, whittling nine strokes off his score from yesterday.
Also shooting below par today was Ross Redmont, who was 4-under through 14 holes before settling for a 71 (-1). He posted four birdies on the day and ranks second in the tournament in par-3 scoring (2.88, -1).
Concluding UT Martin's team scoring with identical 73's (+1) was Nick Wolf and Jack Story. Wolf sank two birdies and one of just eight eagles in the second round of the event – occurring on the par-5, 525-yard Hole No. 14. Story managed four birdies today as he is tied for second in the event with a 4.38 scoring average (-5) on par-5's and ranks sixth in the field with nine total birdies.
Mason Chandler was 1-over through 11 holes today before finishing with a score of 77 (+5). He birdied two of his final three holes, bringing his tally up to three on the day.
Competing individually was Jacob Uehlein, who tapped in a pair of birdie putts on the back-nine on his way to a 76 (+4).
"The team did well taking advantage of ideal conditions," Skyhawk assistant coach Austin Swafford said. "Tate played great and carried us to an under par round as a team. There are a few things we need to tidy up but overall it was a solid round."
Overall, Story ranks 23rd in the 112-man field with a score of 144 (E) with both Redmont and Chumley closely behind at 145 (+1). Wolf's two-round total is a 147 (+3) while Chandler (156, +12) and Uehlein (151, +7) follow on the leaderboard.
UT Martin will start on Holes No. 8-11 during tomorrow's third round, teeing off at 7:45 a.m. local time. The Skyhawks will be paired alongside Marshall, Xavier and Northern Illinois for the final 18 holes.
