STORY ONE SHOT OFF THE LEAD AS SKYHAWK GOLF STARTS STRONG AFTER 36 HOLES AT BIG BLUE INTERCOLLEGIATE

OLD HICKORY, Tenn. – For the second consecutive tournament, University of Tennessee at Martin junior Jack Story got off to a blazing start as the Skyhawks completed the opening two rounds of the Big Blue Intercollegiate today.

Story was responsible for a 138 (-4) through 36 holes, which only ranks behind Tennessee Tech's Bryce Beeler (137, -5) for the lead in the 87-man field. Story began his day with a 68 (-3) this morning and tacked on a 70 (-1) this afternoon. The Dickson, Tenn. native paced UT Martin with six birdies on the day to go along with 28 pars and two bogeys.

As a team, the Skyhawks accounted for identical rounds of 285 (+1) today. UT Martin's aggregate score of 570 (+2) ranks third in the field of 14 teams and trails only Tennessee Tech (563, -5) and Wright State (569, +1).

Two other Skyhawks find themselves in the top-20 of the field after Round 2. Ross Redmont's 143 (+1) ranks 15th after a team-high 29 pars today while Cameron Smith (144, +2) rode six birdies to sit in 19th place headed into tomorrow's final round.

Story's first-round 68 was the third-best score of the first round. Redmont collected an even-par 71 while Nick Wolf and Mason Chandler each shot a 73 (+2) to complete UT Martin's team score. Smith's 74 (+3) barely missed the cut as a countable score.

In the afternoon round, Smith equaled Story's 70 (-1) for the team lead. Redmont added a 72 (+1) while Wolf and Chandler delivered matching 73's (+2).

Overall, Wolf and Chandler are tied with scores of 146 (+4) as the 10 Skyhawk scorers combined for an impressive 71.7 stroke average on the day.

UT Martin also saw two players compete as individuals. Peyton Dix (147, +5) began his day with a 72 before carding a 75 in the afternoon. Meanwhile, Tate Chumley (152, +10) opened with a 77 this morning before tallying an improved 75 in the second round.

The final round is set for an 8 a.m. shotgun start on Tuesday, April 9 at the Hermitage Golf Club. The Skyhawks' scoring team will start on Holes No. 1-3 while Dix and Chumley will begin on Hole No. 14 and Hole No. 16, respectively.
