MUSCLE SHOALS, Ala. – Ross Redmont, a redshirt junior at the University of Tennessee at Martin, was spotlighted as one of 10 All-Ohio Valley Conference golfers this evening at the 2019 awards banquet following Day 1 of the league's championship tournament.
This marks the second career OVC postseason award for Redmont, who was also an OVC All-Newcomer selection in 2015-16. The Memphis, Tenn. native is just the ninth player in program history to achieve All-OVC status.
"I'm extremely proud for Ross," Skyhawk head coach Jerry Carpenter said. "He's had a good year and he's done a good job as our team leader and team captain. He's very deserving of this honor."
Redmont wrapped up the regular season in a tie for third place in the OVC scoring average standings (71.9), just 0.2 strokes off the leader. He has played 12 of his 26 rounds this season at par or below par, including a season-low round of 67 in the second rounds of both the Grover Page Classic (March 11) and the Bubba Barnett Intercollegiate (April 1).
Taking part in nine tournaments in 2018-19, Redmont led UT Martin in both top-five finishes (three) and top-10 finishes (five). He finished as runner-up in both the Murray State Invitational (Sept. 10-11) and the Grover Page Classic (March 11-12), dialing up all-tournament honors in both of those events.
The proof of Redmont's amazingly consistent season was that all of his 26 rounds produced countable scores towards the Skyhawks' team tally. He also topped UT Martin in par-3 scoring (3.01), par-4 scoring (4.07) and birdies (82) during his 2018-19 campaign.
