STORY RANKS SECOND IN INDIVIDUAL STANDINGS AFTER DAY ONE OF BUBBA BARNETT INTERCOLLEGIATE

JONESBORO, Ark. – Junior Jack Story carded back-to-back 71's today as the University of Tennessee at Martin golf team wrapped up the first two rounds of the Bubba Barnett Intercollegiate held at RidgePointe Country Club.

Playing as an individual, Story is in a five-way tie for second place at 142 (-2), just two strokes behind Southeastern Louisiana's Kris Kerr for the individual lead. The Dickson, Tenn. native accounted for two birdies, 15 pars and one bogey during his morning round while contributing an eagle, two birdies, 12 pars and three bogeys in Round 2. His eagle – which took place on Hole No. 5, a par-4 playing at 506 yards – was one of eight during the tournament's first day.

Joining Story in the top-10 after 36 holes is Ross Redmont, who made the biggest leap in the field from Round 1 to Round 2. After generating 13 pars this morning for a 77 (+5), he jumped up 30 spots in the individual standings thanks to a 67 (-5) during the afternoon. His remarkable second round was tied for the lowest score of the day and included seven birdies – including four in a row to close out the round – to bring his total score to 144 (E), which is tied for seventh in the standings.

Tate Chumley led the Skyhawk scoring lineup in Round 1, tallying four birdies on his way to an even-par 72. Mason Chandler (three birdies – all in the span of four holes on the back-nine) and Cameron Smith (four birdies) each notched a 76 (+4) while Redmont's 77 rounded out the team scoring. Nick Wolf also shot an 80 (+8) for UT Martin during Round 1 this morning.

Redmont's second-round 67 paced the Skyhawks this afternoon while Chandler's 75 (+3) included a pair of birdies on the back-nine. Wolf collected a pair of birdies as part of a 78 (+6) while Chumley (two birdies) and Smith (one birdie) accounted for 79's (+7) in Round 2.

Overall, Chumley and Chandler have each compiled a 151 (+7) while Smith (155, +11) and Wolf (158, +14) completed the UT Martin representatives through 36 holes of play.

The Skyhawks shot an even 600 (+24) for the day, posting a 301 (+13) in the opening round before an improved score of 299 (+11) in the second round. UT Martin ranked in sixth after the morning round and now sits in eighth place out of 11 teams in the field.

The final round of the tournament is set for an 8:15 a.m. shotgun start on Tuesday, April 2. The Skyhawk team will be paired with Missouri State and Omaha on Holes 9-12 while Story will be matched up with Evansville's Dallas Koth and Eastern Illinois' Romeo Perez on Hole No. 13.
