UT MARTIN GOLF MOVES UP THREE SPOTS IN TEAM STANDINGS AT BOBBY NICHOLS INTERCOLLEGIATE

Day 2 Results
SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin golf team whittled six strokes off its first round score today and has leaped into the top-10 of the rankings after Day 2 of the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate held at the Sevierville Golf Club River Course.

After the Skyhawks opened the tournament with a 301 during yesterday's first round, UT Martin applied some adjustments and responded with a 295 (+7) today. That improvement resulted in a leap from 13th to 10th in the team standings as the Skyhawks have carded an aggregate score of 596 (+20) with 18 holes left to play.

"We played a lot better today," UT Martin head coach Jerry Carpenter said. "Our golf course management decisions weren't sound yesterday and we corrected those today on certain holes. I'm proud what we did today as a team as we look forward to closing the tournament out strong tomorrow."

Sophomore Nick Wolf paced the Skyhawks today, firing a 71 (-1) that was a four-stroke improvement from Round 1. Tate Chumley trimmed six strokes off his Day 1 score with a 74 (+2) while Ross Redmont also collected a 74 (+2) this afternoon. Mason Chandler and Jack Story completed the team scoring with identical scores of 76 (+4). Story tied Chumley for the team's biggest improvement from the first round with a performance that was six shots lower.

Peyton Dix also compiled an improved score today, cutting three strokes off his score to card a 77 (+5) as an individual. The junior from Bartlett, Tenn. was responsible for one of four eagles in the tournament field during today's second round.

Through 36 holes, Redmont is in a tie for 16th place with a score of 145 (+1). Wolf follows closely behind with a 146 (+2) while Chandler ranks third on the squad with a 151 (+7). Chumley comes in at a 154 (+10) and is followed by Dix (157, +13) and Story (158, +14).

The final round of the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate is set for 10 a.m. CST on Tuesday, March 18. UT Martin is paired with Butler and Detroit Mercy on Holes 10-12 while Dix will tee up alongside individuals from Tennessee Tech and Morehead State on Hole No. 18.
