REDMONT LEADS SKYHAWK GOLFERS AFTER FIRST DAY AT BOBBY NICHOLS INTERCOLLEGIATE

SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. – Redshirt junior Ross Redmont is tied for ninth place in the individual standings as the University of Tennessee at Martin golf team completed 18 holes today at the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate hosted by Tennessee Tech.

The first of three rounds was pushed back to a noon start time today as frost hit the Sevierville Golf Club River Course. After the weather cleared up, Redmont was steady with a team-high 13 pars on his way to a 71 (-1). The Memphis, Tenn. native was one of only 15 golfers in the 90-man field to shoot under par in the first round.

As a team, the Skyhawks shot a 301 (+13) today, ranking 13th out of 15 teams in a field that saw only two teams card below-par scores.

Nick Wolf and Mason Chandler each recorded 75's (+3) for UT Martin during the opening round, as Chandler produced a team-best four birdies on the day. Tate Chumley rounded out the team scoring with an 80 (+8) while Jack Story posted an 82 (+10) for UT Martin.

Playing as one of 15 individuals in the tournament, Peyton Dix compiled an 80 (+8) this afternoon.

Like today, Round 2 on Monday, March 18 will also be delayed until noon local time because of a frost advisory. The Skyhawks are scheduled to tee off alongside Evansville and Montreat College on Holes No. 13-15 while Dix is paired with individuals from Tennessee Tech and Morehead State on Hole No. 18.
