Day Two Results
GOODYEAR, Ariz. – The University of Tennessee at Martin golf team shaved five strokes off their first round score today as the Loyola Intercollegiate continued at the Palm Valley Golf Club.
          Â
The Skyhawks combined for a second round score of 301 (+13) today, bringing their two-round total to 607 (+31). As a team, UT Martin was responsible for nine birdies and one eagle during Round 2.
          Â
"I'm really disappointed because I know we are better than what we have shown," Skyhawk head coach Jerry Carpenter said. "We just didn't execute shots like we normally do and our ball striking wasn't what it should have been today. The bottom line is that the last two days, we have gotten ourselves in a hole and we couldn't dig out of it."
          Â
Nick Wolf's 74 (+2) was the best score for UT Martin today as he was even-par through his first 14 holes on the day. Overall, his Round 2 score consisted of 14 pars and one birdie.
          Â
Ross Redmont tied for the team lead with three birdies on his way to a 75 (+3) during the second round. He overcame a slow start to shoot 1-under par over his final 14 holes of the day.
          Â
Tying Redmont for the team lead with three birdies was Peyton Dix, who also carded a 75 (+3) today. Dix also showed improvement as the day went on as the junior lefty shot 1-under par in his last 11 holes.
          Â
Tate Chumley completed the team scoring for the Skyhawks with a 77 (+5) during Round 2. His final score included one birdie and an eagle on Hole No. 11 – a challenging par-5 playing at 515 yards.
          Â
Cameron Smith (80, +8) also represented UT Martin today, as he knocked in a birdie on his last hole of the day to shoot 1-under par over final six-hole stretch.
          Â
Through two rounds, Redmont (149, +5) paces the Skyhawks with Chumley's 150 (+6) following closely behind. Wolf and Dix have each produced a 155 (+11) while Smith comes in at 159 (+15).
          Â
The third and final round begins with an 8:45 a.m. local time shotgun start on Monday, Feb. 25. UT Martin is paired with each of the 15 participants playing as individuals in the field.
