BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – For the second time this season, a University of Tennessee at Martin representative has claimed Ohio Valley Conference Golfer of the Month accolades as the league announced that Nick Wolf was the recipient for the month of October.
Wolf becomes the second Skyhawk to ever win the OVC Golfer of the Month award, which was introduced before the 2018-19 season. He follows teammate Jack Story, who nabbed the honor in September in the first edition of the awards this season.
A junior out of Murfreesboro, Tenn., Wolf put together an extremely consistent October. He notched top-five finishes in all three tournaments, producing countable scores in each of his eight rounds last month.
At the Skyhawk Fall Classic, Wolf finished fourth out of 78 competitors with an overall score of 217 (+1) after rounds of 70-73-74 in Buchanan, Tenn. Two weeks later, his 211 (-5) placed fifth out of 71 golfers at the F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate in Dickson, Tenn. as he produced rounds of 72-69-70. He completed his highly successful month at the TVA Community Credit Union Invitational in Killen, Ala. on Oct. 21-22, carding rounds of 71-70 for a 141 (-3). He placed second in the field of 71 participants to tie the best finish of his collegiate career.
In addition to his individual success, Wolf helped lead UT Martin to three consecutive tournament victories in October. Overall, the Skyhawks established themselves as the hottest team in the OVC this fall – winning four straight tournaments while not placing any lower than second place in each of their six events.
Wolf's 71.6 scoring average ranks ninth in the OVC. Today's announcement marks the second time that he has been recognized by the league as he also picked up All-OVC and All-OVC Newcomer status as a freshman in 2017-18.
