STORY BECOMES FIRST SKYHAWK TO WIN OVC GOLFER OF THE MONTH ACCOLADES

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – For the first time ever, a University of Tennessee at Martin representative has nabbed Ohio Valley Conference Golfer of the Month status as the league announced today that Jack Story earned the honor for the month of September.
Story is just the fifth all-time honoree to claim OVC Golfer of the Month honors, as the league adopted the award at the start of the 2018-19 season. Past winners include Eastern Kentucky's Billy Basham and Erik Lindwall, SIUE's Kyle Slattery and Morehead State's Cooper Collins.
It's been quite a start to Story's senior season, as the lefty currently leads the OVC with a 69.8 stroke average. He has emerged as the leader of a Skyhawk squad that boasts two victories and two runner-up finishes in their four tournaments so far this fall.
Story has finished in the top-eight in all four of UT Martin's events in 2019-20, beginning with his first career collegiate win (195, -18) at the Murray State Invitational on Sept. 9-10. He followed that with a fourth-place effort (211, +1) at the Raising Canes Intercollegiate on Sept. 14-15 before placing eighth (213, E) at the SIU Derek Dolenc Invitational on Sept. 23-24. His most recent finish was a sixth-place showing (218, +2) this week at the Skyhawk Fall Classic.
Story has accounted for 11 countable scores (out of a possible 12) and has shot even or under par seven times so far this season. That includes a career-best 62 in the third round of the Murray State Invitational as he began the 2019-20 campaign with four consecutive scores in the 60's.
This marks the third OVC honor of the season already for Story, as he was also spotlighted as the league's Golfer of the Week in back-to-back weeks (Sept. 11 and Sept. 18).
UT Martin's next event will take place in Story's hometown, as the Skyhawks travel to Dickson, Tenn. for the F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate on Oct. 14-15.
