UT MARTIN MEN’S CROSS COUNTRY SQUAD RANKED 14TH AMONGST REGION’S BEST IN LATEST POLL

MARTIN, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin men's cross country team retained its regional ranking by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Tuesday afternoon in the Week 1 South Region Rankings, coming it at No. 14.
The Skyhawk men's squad began the year on a strong note at the Brooks Memphis Twilight XC Classic back on Saturday, Sept. 1. In the race, the Skyhawks notched a third-place finish behind regionally ranked Missouri (10th in Midwest) and Memphis (11th in South).
Highlighting the team's scoring five was junior standout Ryan Ford who obliterated the program's previous four-mile program record of 20:58 by finishing fifth overall with a time of 20:21.36. Meanwhile, newcomer Oisin O'Gailin also bested the previous school mark with a time of 20:48.88 to finish 12th in his first race as a Skyhawk. The trio of sophomore Daniel Smith, Marcos Macias and Lenny Baumann all posted top-30 finishes to round out the scoring five for the Skyhawks.
UT Martin will take its regional rankings on the road this weekend with an appearance at the Stegemoller Classic in Evansville, Ind. on Friday, Sept. 14. The women's team will compete at 5:50 p.m., followed by the men's race at 6:20 p.m.
