
SKYHAWK GOLF COMPLETES SECOND ROUND AT OVC CHAMPIONSHIPS

MUSCLE SHOALS, Ala. – It was a struggle for the University of Tennessee at Martin golf team today at the Ohio Valley Conference Championships, as the Skyhawks carded a 309 (+21) in the second round of the tournament held at The Shoals on the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail.
UT Martin posted nine birdies as a team but was hurt by nine double bogeys on the day. The Skyhawks' two-round score of 605 (+29) ranks ninth in the field of 11 teams going into Wednesday's third and final round. Jacksonville State (575, -1) is the team leader after 36 holes of play in the tournament.
Individually, Hunter Richardson was responsible for a 74 (+2) today. The four-time All-OVC honoree played at 2-under through the first 10 holes and added a third birdie on the day on Hole No. 18. His overall score of 146 (+2) is in a tie for sixth place behind leader Jesus Montenegro (140, -4) from Jacksonville State.
Jack Story posted the next-best score for UT Martin today, as he birdied three of his final four holes to end the day with a 77 (+5). Ross Redmont chipped in a pair of birdies on his way to a 78 (+6) today while Nick Wolf added an 80 (+8) to complete the team scoring. Tate Chumley collected a team-best 13 pars today before finishing with an 82 (+10).
"Today was just a bad performance all around for us," UT Martin head coach Jerry Carpenter said. "I apologize to our fans and our supporters. We will try to do a better job tomorrow."
For the tournament, Story is ranked 22nd with a 150 (+6). He is followed by Wolf (155, +11), Redmont (157, +13) and Chumley (158, +14).
The Skyhawks round out the OVC Championships on Wednesday morning as UT Martin will be paired with Austin Peay and Tennessee State. Chumley will tee off at 8:50 a.m. and will be followed by Redmont (9:00), Wolf (9:10), Story (9:20) and Richardson (9:30).
