MARTIN, Tenn. – Jillian Niedzialowski, a multisport star out of Nichols School in Buffalo, NY, has inked a National Letter of Intent to join the University of Tennessee at Martin tennis program in 2019-20.
A Kenmore, NY native, Niedzialowski has been a varsity member of the Nichols tennis, basketball and golf programs since her freshman year. She earned team Most Valuable Player honors in tennis in each of the last three seasons, earning captain status for both her junior and senior campaigns.
Playing for head coach Amy Borden, Niedzialowski accounted for a 32-3 record in singles from her freshman through junior seasons on the tennis court. In 2016, Niedzialowski took part in the USTA National Indoor Championships in Girls 16 singles action.
During the last seven years, Niedzialowski has trained at the Miller Tennis Center. In 2014, Niedzialowski teamed with Brooke Szymusiak to win the doubles open division of the Buffalo Summer Championships, the area's biggest tournament of all levels.
Niedzialowski also was named captain of the basketball team as a senior and won the coach's award for the golf team as a junior.
"As you can see from her bio, Jillian is extremely athletic," Skyhawk head coach Dennis Taylor said. "Athleticism is one of the most important keys that I use in recruiting and Jillian is definitely one of the most athletic players that I have seen in years. Once she is able to focus all of her athletic ability into tennis, Jillian will become one of the top players in the Ohio Valley Conference."
Niedzialowski is set to join a UT Martin program that is a model of excellence in the OVC, as the Skyhawks have captured six league championships and made the league tournament in 25 out of their 26 seasons in the OVC.
