NEW ORLEANS, La. – For the fourth time this season, the University of Tennessee at Martin men's cross country team has notched a regional ranking by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Monday afternoon in the Week 5 South Region Rankings, coming it at No. 15.
The Skyhawks remained in the regional rankings after a nice showing at the Wisconsin Pre-Nationals this past weekend where the squad ran against some of the best athletes in the country. In a meet which featured numerous nationally ranked and regionally ranked teams from coast-to-coast, the Skyhawks showed continued growth.
Junior Ryan Ford paced the group for the fourth straight time this season followed closely by freshman Oisin O'Gailin. The trio of Daniel Smith, Marcos Macias and Lenny Baumann rounded out the top five. So far this season, the Skyhawks have had six athletes rank as the team's scoring five to meld a nice group moving forward.
UT Martin will return to competition at the Ohio Valley Conference Championships in Cape Girardeau, Mo. on Saturday, Oct. 27.
