FOUR UT MARTIN GOLFERS IN THE TOP-15 AFTER FIRST TWO ROUNDS OF SKYHAWK FALL CLASSIC

Day 1 Results
BUCHANAN, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin golf team finds itself in the middle of the pack in the team standings after Day 1 of the Skyhawk Fall Classic, held at Paris Landing State Park.

Tate Chumley (seventh), Nick Wolf (10th), Shelden Barina (11th) and Peyton Dix (15th) each rank in the top-15 of the individual standings through 36 holes of the 54-hole tournament. Chumley produced a 143 (-1) while Wolf (145, +1) rounds out the Skyhawks in the top-10. Barina trails closely behind with a 146 (+2) while Dix posted a 148 (+4) today.

Mason Chandler carded a 151 (+7) while Cameron Smith and Jack Story each shot a 154 (+10) for UT Martin today.

As a team, the Skyhawks rank fourth out of seven teams with an overall score of 593 (+17). UT Martin shot a 294 (+6) this morning before tallying a 299 (+11) in the afternoon round. Tennessee State's 569 (-7) leads the field as the only team to shoot under par so far in the tournament.

"The weather was great and this golf course is in great shape as it always is," Skyhawk head coach Jerry Carpenter said. "We had three players shoot under-par in a round but overall I'm very disappointed in our scores today. We are totally inconsistent – we know this golf course as well as we know any course and these scores should be better. Hopefully we come out and play better tomorrow."

UT Martin ranked third in the standings after Round 1 as Chumley's 70 led the way. Chandler contributed with a score of 74 while Smith and Story each carded 75's to complete the scoring lineup. Barina's 76 narrowly missed out on the team score while Dix (70) and Wolf (73) each competed as individuals.

Round 2 featured a six-shot improvement by Barina, who was responsible for the lowest Skyhawk round with a 70. Chumley carded a 73 while Chandler (77), Smith (79) and Story (79) concluded the team scoring. Wolf generated an even-par 72 and Dix managed a 78 in the second round.

Dix is tied for the tournament lead in par-3 scoring (2.88, -1) as he and Barina shared the team lead with seven birdies on the day. Chumley (six), Wolf (five), Chandler (four), Smith (three) and Story (two) each contributed to UT Martin's 34 birdies on the day.

The third and final round begins with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start on Tuesday, Oct. 2. The Skyhawks are paired with John A. Logan and Bethel on Holes 6-10 while Wolf and Dix will start on Hole No. 11 and Hole No. 12, respectively.
