Harbison became the first individual in school history to win a NCAA individual title when he won the air rifle competition at the NCAA Championships in Cincinnati in 1987.

The national title culminated a four-year career in which the Pennsylvania native was a three-time All-American. In addition to the national accolades, Harbison was a two-time team MVP and elected team captain his junior and senior years. He was active in the Pacer Battalion.
