Mark Florence was a four-year member of the nationally-ranked golf team which participated in the NCAA Division II National Championships during three of his seasons.

Florence served as team captain his senior year. In his final college match, he came on strong to post a 14th-place finish in the National Championship in 1989 and lead the UT Martin team to a ninth-place finish. He also was one of 20 players from across the nation selected to play in the East-West match play held in conjunction with the championships.
