A native of Binghamton, NY, Barker (1982-2000) was an athletic training innovator over nearly two decades of service at UT Martin. She supported and promoted athletics by assessing, treating and working to prevent injuries while also providing counseling, instruction and guidance to student-athletes. Under her direction both in the classroom and in a clinical setting, a countless number of students are now working as healthcare providers.
