Long, a 5-foot-4 point guard from Memphis, was one of UT Martin's first two women to receive All-Gulf South Conference honors. She played from 1985-1988 and from 1989-1990. As a sophomore, Long averaged 15.9 points a game and led the Lady Pacers in scoring for her second consecutive season.

Long remains on the all-time scoring list with 1,345 points. She had 411 steals and 458 assists throughout her career. She was named to the 1987 All-Gulf South Conference team.
