Andrews played football from 1985-88. He was a first-team All-Gulf South Conference player as an offensive guard for the 1988 UT martin team which won a share of the league title and advanced to the quarterfinals of the national playoffs. Andrews was a four-year starter, and he played defense his freshman season. He was named to the All-GSC as a junior. He was selected to the All-GSC Team of the Decade for the 1980's as an offensive lineman. Andrews also was a GTE Sports Information Directors District All-American. He earned All-Academic GSC three consecutive years. The Pacers finished 11-2 during Andrew's senior year.
