David Clarke was a leader on the nationally-ranked rifle team and concluded his career by being named to both the All-American and GTE Academic All-American squads his senior year.

As a four-year letterman, the New York native participated in three NCAA championships for the nationally-ranked UT Martin team. During his tenure, the team won four straight Gulf South Conference titles, and he was a part of an 87-match consecutive winning streak within the conference. He served as team captain for two years.
