Bobby Brannon was a two-year member of the UT Martin golf team which advanced to the NCAA Division II national championships.

Brannon was named to the Coaches All-America team as a third team selection in 1988. He finished 13th in the NCAA National Tournament held at Lake Ozart, Mo. and also was elected to play in the East-West National Matches. The national honors came after an All-Gulf South Conference selection. He ended his UT Martin career with a 73.4 stroke average

He played golf at David Lipscomb two years before transferring to UT Martin where he was a member of the football team prior to joining the golf squad
