Auburn Live Scoring

MARTIN, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin equestrian squad opens its 2017 spring schedule this weekend when it travels to take on Alabama on Friday, Feb. 17 and No. 4 Auburn on Saturday, Feb. 18.

These two competitions will be the first official action for the Skyhawks in nearly two months, as UT Martin wrapped up the fall with a 15-5 win over Miami (Ohio) on Nov. 18. The Skyhawks’ spring slate includes three regular season matches before the United Equestrian Conference championships in Dover, Del. on March 24-25 and the NCEA Championships in Waco, Texas on April 13-15.

All six UT Martin riders who competed in equitation on the flat in the fall accrued at least one team point, as Randi LaChance and Claire Ottinger claimed a team-high three points. LaChance posted a team-high 77.8 average while LaChance, Ottinger and Monica Zoromski each claimed one MOP apiece.

In equitation over fences, Zoromski was responsible for team-highs of three points and an 81.4 scoring average. LaChance (one MOP) and Savannah Metheny also earned two team points for the Skyhawks in the fall.

Bobbie Piddock paced UT Martin in horsemanship in the fall, registering team-highs of three points and two MOP’s. Brittany Woodard chalked up a team-best 72.4 scoring average for the Skyhawks in the event.

In reining, Madeline Williams and Sammi Felts each tied for the team lead in team points (two) and scoring average (67.0). Williams and Piddock both won one MOP accolade as all five Skyhawks who competed in the Western event tallied at least one team point in the fall.

UT Martin faced Auburn earlier this season, hosting the then-No. 1 Tigers on Sept. 29. The Skyhawks fell by a 14-6 margin but managed to win the reining matchup (3-2), led by Piddock’s MOP performance. In addition, LaChance (equitation on the flat), Lauren Kinney (equitation on the flat), Zoromski (equitation over fences), Williams (reining) and Liana Nowak (reining) also dialed up points with head-to-head wins.
